Private Chateau in Languedoc Sleeps 14-20

A magnificent private chateau in a tranquil setting with gardens, pool and stunning views of the Pyrenees, offering total seclusion.Sleeps 14-20. Sheltered by wooded foothills but looking out to the Pyrenees a few miles to the south, the Château lies on a rock cliff which falls sheer to the River Touyre below. The river runs almost 360° around the rock, creating a "presqu'île" of the property and its garden. Although secluded, local towns Mirepoix and Lavelanet are both within 15 minutes. The surrounding area is famous its beauty, its architecture and for its Cathar history. All the Cathar castles (Montségur, Rocquesfixade, Peyrpeteuse, Puilarens, Quillan...) are within an hour or so. Plenty of walking and riding, skiing is available nearby, there is lake sailing 10 minutes away and the coast is but an hour's drive. Shopping is in Mirepoix, about 10-15 minutes away. Toulouse is an hour away and has regular daily flights from Heathrow and Gatwick, Paris, Nice and most major European cities. Ryanair flies daily from Stansted to Carcassonne, which is 40 minutes from the house. Queille is also accessible from Montpellier (2 hours), Perpignan (75 minutes), Gerona and Barcelona (2-3 hours).
